J. Harry Blalock was born in Dothan, Alabama on June 14, 1947. From 1966 until 1968, Harry was a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. Harry received his undergraduate education at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa’s College of Commerce and Business Administration, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. He later attended the Masters of Business Administration Program at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. After the MBA program, Harry attended Birmingham Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1981.
    Harry was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1981. In 1982, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. In 1983, he was admitted to the 11th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals and in 1992, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.
